As part of the activities marking Europe Day in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative, Ambassador Luigi Soreca opened yesterday the exhibition “I Am Here, You Are Not – Postcards from Europe” by the renowned BiH artist, illustrator, and comedian Filip Andronik.

The exhibition, which will be displayed at Europe House in Sarajevo, is a culmination of a ten-year artistic journey. It features a collection of illustrated postcards that the artist has collected and created during his travels across the continent. What began in 2014 as an artist residency in Vienna, during which Andronik challenged himself to send 100 postcards in 100 days, has evolved into a profound travel diary.

Ambassador Luigi Soreca during the opening ceremony reflected on the symbolic nature of the exhibition, successfully connecting local creativity with the wider European canvas. “We are celebrating something that is more than a political union or a set of geographic borders – we are celebrating the shared stories and human connections that unite our continent. As we mark the project to achieve peace and unity of Europe, I am glad here in Europe House we are able to host the unique vision of Filip Andronik’s project “I am here, you are not”. This exhibition reminds us that the European project is not just institutions and processes, but also many small things that bring us together: funny observations, landscapes, and the feeling of being somewhere new yet also at home,” said Ambassador Soreca.

The collection of postcards captures a wide array of moments, observations, and impressions, serving as a visual testament to cultural diversity, freedom of movement, and human dignity. By focusing on creative expression, the exhibition highlights the shared history and common identity that connect Bosnia and Herzegovina with the European Union.

During the opening ceremony, the author underlined the significance of authentic artistic expression for him, noting that “For me, a postcard is much more than just a piece of paper you use to let your friends know that you are somewhere they are not. It is a space which challenges me to fill it with something unusual. Can it be just an unusually written or drawn message? It can, but more often than not, it is a challenge to experience something unusual during my travels, something worthy of writing and drawing it,” said Filip Andronik.

“I Am Here, You Are Not – Postcards from Europe” is open for the public from Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00 at Europe House, Maršala Tita 62 in Sarajevo until 30 May 2026.

Guided by the slogan “Our Future, Our Europe”, Europe Day activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina continue in the following period across the country, offering a variety of cultural and educational opportunities for citizens. The full programme of Europe Day activities is available here.
