Yesterday, the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzgeovina to Russia, Zeljko Samardzija, handed over the icon, which was presented by the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Milorad Dodik, to the Russian Head of Diplomacy, Sergey Lavrov, Srna was told in the office of the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH.

The icon is stored in a safe in the office of the chairman of the Presidency of BiH. When asked by Srna whether they received answers from the Embassy of Ukraine in BiH to the request for information regarding the icon, the cabinet stated that despite the fact that various insinuations and untruths continue, they did not receive the requested information from the Embassy.

“We addressed the Embassy of Ukraine in BiH through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers, but we have not yet received any evidence on which to base their claims that the icon is the cultural heritage of that country, nor that it is on the list of stolen artifacts,” the cabinet said.

The office of the chairman of the Presidency of BiH asked the Embassy of Ukraine in BiH to provide relevant information regarding the icon that was given to the head of Russian diplomacy, Sergey Lavrov, during his recent visit to East Sarajevo.

The Embassy of Ukraine in BiH was asked to clarify the basis for the claims that the icon is the cultural heritage of this country, to present relevant evidence that is not based on Internet sources, and to explain and present evidence to whom and in which period it belonged if it possesses them. According to the cabinet, the icon in question is not on any list of protected, lost or alienated cultural treasures of any country, Nezavisne writes.
