IGC Warns Canadian Political Entities of Ongoing Attack on the State of BiH

In a letter signed by Emir Ramic, director of the Institute For Research of Genocide Canada (IGC), and addressed to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Minister of Foreign Affairs Melanie Joly, and members of the Parliament of Canada, friends of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Robert Oliphant and Brian Masse, it is stated, among other things:

“We are writing to you on behalf of many deeply concerned individuals, organizations, and communities of the BiH community in Canada, but also on behalf of many Canadians who are friends of BiH, and concerned about the situation in BiH.

In BiH, an attack on the state, its Constitution, and its institutions is underway. Officials of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, Radovan Viskovic, and Nenad Stevandic, have committed the serious criminal offense of attack on the constitutional order of BiH. Aleksandar Vucic and Milorad Dodik are proxies of the Russian Federation in the Balkans and are working to dismantle BiH, dangerously threatening peace and security in the Balkans, leading this region into a new conflict that could be even more dangerous than the Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Members of the Presidency of BiH, Dr. Denis Becirovic and Zeljko Komsic, have submitted a request to hold an emergency session of the Presidency of BiH regarding the attack by the RS entity authorities on the constitutional order of BiH.

At the request of Zeljka Cvijanovic, the Chairwoman of the Presidency of BiH, who directly supports the secessionist demands of Milorad Dodik, Russia has requested an urgent session of the United Nations (UN) on BiH.

We expect Canada to take this seriously, bearing in mind Canada’s clear stance from March 1st this year regarding developments in BiH, which states: ‘Canada supports the statement of the Chair of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC), emphasizes the need to refrain from interfering in the judiciary and to respect the independence of the judiciary, and reaffirms its unequivocal commitment to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of BiH.’

We ask the Government of Canada, in its capacity as Chair of the Group of Seven (G7) and as a member of the Steering Board of the PIC, to take clear, swift, and concrete measures to protect the territorial integrity, sovereignty, independence, and international subjectivity of the state of BiH. Any delay in taking swift and effective measures could have serious consequences not only for BiH but also for the region, Europe, and the world.

This is not an everyday political and security situation. It is the culmination of a decades-long dangerous secessionist policy and project. It is a serious, great-nationalist undertaking, and it must be treated as such. It is time for the pro-Bosnian state factor to unite on the issue of defending the state and show the BiH people in and outside of BiH that they have a plan for the defense and strengthening of the state.”
