This decision was adopted at the session of the Municipal Council of Ilidza.

After a brief discussion, all councilors unanimously accepted the decision and succeeded, after months of initiatives, to close the doors of betting shops in the center of Ilidza.

According to Sabina Viteskic, the Assistant for tourism and the economy of the Mayor of Ilidza, except in these streets where betting shops will no longer be able to work, betting shops will have to be 100 meters away of primary and secondary schools and religious objects in parts of settlements in which their work will be allowed.

“Since the municipalities are not issuing work permits for betting shops, but Federal Ministry of Finance, they are obliged to comply with this amended decision. The consent of municipalities is required by the Amendment on the Law on games of chance, but they will no longer be able to get it from Ilidza. Conclusion which requests from the Federal Ministry of Finance to visit all the betting shops and undertake legal measures was also proposed,” added Viteskic.

She emphasized that when extending work permits for betting shops, which is usually issued for 2 years, the proposed conclusion requires that this permission is no longer extended.

“The municipality will not give consent neither for those betting shops that are not on a certain distance from the school. This decision shall enter into force on the 8th day upon its publication in the Official Gazette ” said Viteskic.
