Bosnian and Herzegovinian (BiH) swimmer Iman Avdic set a new state junior and senior record for BiH at the World Junior Swimming Championships 2023, which is being held in Israel, it was announced by the Sport Time Sarajevo Swimming Club.
The young BiH representative and a member of the Sport Time Swimming Club from Sarajevo, on the first day of competition at the world championships in the 400-meter medley, swam a time of 4:52.27. With this result, as two years younger in the category, she placed in tenth place with the status of second reserve in the final.
Iman Avdic will compete today in the 200-meter butterfly.
Her clubmate Kenan Dracic also had a good performance in his debut at the world show. Yesterday morning, the BiH representative achieved a convincing victory in the fifth group with a personal record of 3:56.62, and 17th place in the overall standings as a year younger in the category in the discipline of 400 meters freestyle.
Today, Kenan Dracic will compete in the 100-meter butterfly event at the World Championships.
Lana Pudar is also representing the colors of BiH at the World Championships. This year’s three-time junior champion and European record holder will make her first appearance today in the qualifications of the 200-meter butterfly. In addition to this discipline, she will perform in the 50 and 100-meter butterfly disciplines, which are on the program on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
The BiH team is led by coaches Damir Djedovic, Evelin Avdic, and Goran Grahovac, N1 reports.
