In Nine Months, more than 1.5 Million Tourists visited BiH

In the period January – September 2024, tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina made 1,513,756 visits, which is 10.4 percent more compared to the same period in 2023. Domestic tourists in the period January – September this year achieved 0.7 percent more visits compared to the same period in 2023, while foreign tourists achieved 14.6 percent more visits compared to the same period of the previous year.

In the period January – September 2024, tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina achieved 3,172,716 overnight stays, which is 7.9 percent more compared to the same period in 2023.

Domestic tourists had 0.4 percent more overnight stays compared to the same period in 2023, while the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists was 11.2 percent higher compared to the same period of the previous year. In the total number of overnight stays, the share of domestic tourists was 28.5 percent, while the share of foreign tourists was 71.5 percent, according to data from the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the structure of foreign tourist overnight stays, the most overnight stays were achieved by tourists from: Croatia (12.6 percent) , Serbia (11.5 percent), Turkey (9.8 percent), Saudi Arabia (9.2 percent), Slovenia (5.3 percent), Germany (4.2 percent), USA (3.4 percent), Poland (3.0 percent), China (2.9 percent) and Italy with (2.8 percent) overnight stays, representing 64.7 percent of the total number of overnight stays. Tourists from other countries accounted for 35.3 percent of overnight stays.

By type the largest number of overnight stays was achieved within the hotels and similar accommodation sector with a share of 94 percent.
