In Sarajevo the Conference “Online Hate Speech in South East Europe” Today

govor_mrznjeThe two-day regional conference “Online hate speech in South East Europe – the role and responsibility of the media” will begin today in Sarajevo.

The project leader UNESCO, together with the Co-partner SEENPM network, as part of EU – UNESCO project “Media Responsibility in South East Europe” will bring together media professionals, researchers and legal experts and will open democratic dialogue on fostering ethical and professional standards of journalism.

Dialogue on the topic of hate speech is present in online medias and aims to point out the need to combat discrimination and to protect and promote the right to free and democratic opinion.

The regional conference was preceded by previous researches on hate speech in the media in Albania, B&H, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Moldova, Romania and Slovenia.

Based on results of previous research and dialogue, the regional conference in Sarajevo will provide the opportunity to participants to exchange their experiences in addressing the hate speech in online media.
