The value of exported gold and jewelry from BiH in the last two years has increased by 12.5 times.

According to the statistics from the Indirect Tax Authority (ITA) of BiH, in 2012 7.3 million KM worth of gold and various types of jewelry were exported, while in 2010 the value of exports of this precious metal was 580.000 KM.

In 2011 the total amount of exported gold was 1.5 million KM.

‘’Gold is mostly exported to Slovenia, Turkey, Austria, Croatia and Serbia”, said the Head of Communications at ITA Ratko Kovačević.

Member of the Association of Economists of the RS SWOT Miloš Todorović said that business with gold has become the most profitable due to the rise in prices of this metal in the last period.

‘’There is more work now for those who are dealing with gold. In the local market, the flow of gold has increased, specifically the purchase, and it is obvious of the high margin of reselling gold and then to export it’’, said Todorović.

When it comes to imports of jewelry and gold items, in 2012 in BiH the import was worth 5.1 million KM.

In 2011 the import of gold was worth 6.1 million KM, while in 2010 the worth of imported gold was 6 million KM, according to the statistics from the ITA in BiH.
