Primary School “Umihana Cuvidina” from Sarajevo started an initiative for adoption of the Law on prohibition of consumption of hookah, as soon as possible.
They noted that while investigating the problem of consuming hookah in Sarajevo, they came to devastating results which showed that more and more minors, even 12 years old, are consuming hookah on daily basis.
They added that the results suggest that young people are not introduced nor aware of many harmful consequences of consuming hookah, such as headaches, aggression, dizziness, moodiness and even hepatitis. They are specially warning that smoking of aromatic tobacco has the greatest impact on the brain and lungs.
They addressed the relevant institutions of the Government and the Assembly of Canton Sarajevo (CS), the Sanitary, medical and pharmaceutical inspection, the Department of the disease of addiction of CS, the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of CS, who supported them in the initiative for amendments of existing three laws, or the Law on the Limited Consumption of Tobacco Products, the Criminal Code of BiH and Catering Industry Act.
Also, they launched an ONLINE PETITION to draw the attention of public for sooner adoption of the law.
