It sounds like a fairy tale, but some loves are truly eternal. Long-lived married couples in Osijek and Vukovar who are celebrating their golden anniversary, 50 years of marriage and love, renewed their vows, swore their love and danced with roses to their favorite song.
Marija and Ivan have been dancing together for 70 years, and 70 years ago Ivan fought for Marija’s love against tough competition.
“And Marko Koprtlja, shame on him! He worked with him at my dad’s. He was also a candidate. The two, who will get me”, recalled Marija Bertok and added that she chose her husband because he was “the most beautifully dressed”.
Ivan knew well why he wore his most beautiful suit 70 years ago.
“I like her. My first love. We listen to each other which is the most important thing. I love motorbikes, I chose my wife first, and then motorbikes”, said Ivan.
