The Srebrenica Memorial Center organized an international conference called “Global Srebrenica Conference – Towards a Permanent UN Framework for Remembrance, Responsibility and Action”, dedicated to building a permanent United Nations framework for remembrance, responsibility and action after the genocide in Srebrenica.
The conference brought together high state and international officials, representatives of the United Nations, survivors, decision makers, legal experts and representatives of civil society.
Three thematic panels discuss the role of Srebrenica in the United Nations system and the practical implications of the International Day of Remembrance; suppression of denial of genocide through legislation, diplomacy and public policies, and about ways of conveying the truth to new generations in a time of disinformation and saturation of the public with topics of memory.
