High Representative Valentin Inzko visited the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC) today and once again used the opportunity to congratulate Halil Lagumdžija, the newly elected President of the HJPC, as well as Vice Presidents Biljana Simeunović and Sanela Gorušanović-Butigan.

The High Representative welcomed the dedication expressed by the new HJPC leadership to place the rule of law and the fight against corruption, together with judicial reform necessary for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU integration efforts, at the centre of their activities.

“A transparent and credible HJPC is an essential factor for strengthening the rule of law in BiH. With new leadership, public trust in HJPC and judicial institutions can be restored. We will always support activities that aim to improve the functioning, integrity, and accountability of the judiciary,” said the High Representative.
