Iran has formally responded to the United States’ 15-point proposal, the state-run Tasnim news agency reported, citing an “informed source.”

The response was sent overnight through an intermediary, and Tehran is now awaiting a response from Washington, the source said.

According to the report, Iran has outlined several conditions for ending the conflict, including an end to what it described as assassinations and aggression, as well as guarantees that war will not happen again.

Tehran also called for a clear definition and guarantee of compensation for war damages and an end to the conflict on all fronts, including with pro-Iranian groups in the region that participated in the fighting.

The source added that Iran stressed its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz as a “natural and legal right” that must be recognized.

The conditions go hand in hand with demands Iran had previously made during talks with the United States in Geneva, held days before the outbreak of war following US and Israeli strikes in February, the report said.

The source also expressed skepticism about Washington’s intentions, saying Iran views US calls for talks as a “deception” aimed at achieving multiple goals.

This includes portraying the United States as a country seeking peace, keeping global oil prices low and buying time to prepare for further military action that includes a ground invasion of southern Iran, the source told al-Arabiya TV network.
