The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the deployment of air defense missile systems on the islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Gulf in the Persian Gulf.

The islands, claimed by Iran and the United Arab Emirates, are located near the vital Strait of Hormuz, through which nearly 88 percent of the Persian Gulf’s oil exports pass. Iran’s militarization of these territories marks a significant escalation of regional tensions and poses serious security implications for global maritime traffic, as well as U.S. military operations in the region.

The Strait of Hormuz, only 50 kilometers wide at its narrowest point, remains one of the world’s most strategically important crossroads for global shipping. Iran is seeking to strengthen its control over this critical passage by deploying advanced air defense systems on these islands.

The Khordad-15 missile systems deployed The Khordad air defense missile system with a detection range of up to 150 km and an engagement range of up to 200 km using the Sayyad-3 missile, the system provides Iran with a significant boost to its air defense capabilities.

Amid these deployments, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri issued a stark warning to Iran’s adversaries.

“If the enemies make a mistake, we will send them to the depths of hell,” he said, noting that Iran’s naval and missile forces are on high alert and are constantly monitoring the enemy’s movements, Klix.ba writes.
