Iranian President: The Country is in Difficult Conditions, People are in a tough Economic Situation

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that his country is in difficult economic conditions and that the people are dissatisfied.

“This is our mistake, not the United States’s (U.S.) or foreigners’,” said Pezeshkian during a speech at the opening of public parliamentary sessions, where the qualifications of 19 ministerial candidates he proposed for his cabinet will be discussed.

Noting that the cabinet he presented to the parliament was a “government of national unity,” Pezeshkian promised that his government would protect the rights of the people.

“Today is an opportunity to hear the voices of all members of the nation and their desires for transformation and change. The country is in difficult conditions, and people are in a tough economic situation. Injustice and imbalance in the economic, social, environmental, educational, and cultural sectors affect everyone,” Pezeshkian said.

He emphasized that it is the government’s duty to act fairly and to satisfy the people.

“Our goal is for the people to be satisfied with us, but today they are not. If the people are dissatisfied, it means waging war against God. This is our fault, not the U.S.’s or foreigners’,” Pezeshkian stated.

Speaking about the threats to Iran, he said:

“The U.S. is the foremost among these threats. The U.S. imposes sanctions, but we can eliminate these threats if we unite. There is tension and war in the region, blood is being spilled. Our relations with our neighbors are weak, our social capital has decreased, and our internal integrity has weakened, as has the government’s reputation in the eyes of the nation. These are our weaknesses.”

He stated that he will continue his fight against corruption with determination.

“We have come to serve this nation, not to rule over it. The state must be an instrument of service, otherwise, it is meaningless and worthless,” Pezeshkian emphasized.
