Ireland supports the European Perspective of the Western Balkans

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Josip Brkić, met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland to Bosnia and Herzegovina, based in Ljubljana, Adrian Farrell.

On that occasion, bilateral relations between BiH and Ireland, the current situation in our country, European integration and economic cooperation were discussed.

It was pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ireland have friendly relations, and the deepening of those relations is important in the context of EU integration as well as the potential for better economic cooperation.

Given that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ireland share similar values, but also challenges, it was assessed that political stability is a prerequisite for attracting investments and economic development.

It was concluded that there is a need to strengthen economic cooperation, especially in the field of tourism, as well as better transport connections between the two countries.

Brkić expressed his gratitude for the support that Ireland has provided to Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially when it comes to the path to the EU.

Farrell emphasized that Ireland supports the European perspective of the Western Balkans and expressed support for Bosnia and Herzegovina on the way to European integration and reform processes.

He reiterated that Ireland is open and ready to transfer its knowledge and experience to Bosnia and Herzegovina in terms of assistance in joining the European Union.

The interlocutors expressed their readiness to improve the political dialogue by exchanging high-level visits.

During the meeting, the importance of the diaspora was also discussed, first of all, when it comes to investments and promotion of potential and projects for new investments in BiH, announced the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH.
