At its session on Tuesday, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina endorsed proposals presented by the Federal Minister of Internal Affairs, Ramo Isak. These proposals concern child protection, the police response to challenges within the digital environment, traffic safety, and the management of police resources.
Minister Isak advocated for the adoption of these proposals, with the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs staff providing expert input during the preparation of the materials. The support from the FBiH Government enables the continuation of initiatives aimed at improving police operations, strengthening cooperation among relevant institutions, and contributing to the safety of citizens.
By adopting the report on activities regarding the establishment of the “Child Alert BH” system – along with an accompanying conclusion – the Government has backed continued work on developing a system for issuing alerts when children go missing. In such situations, the timely exchange of information and coordinated action by the relevant institutions are of critical importance.
The goal of establishing this system is to facilitate faster notification and a more organized response in the search for a missing child. The adoption of this report marks an important step in the process, with further activities to follow regarding the system’s implementation and the definition of operational procedures.
Additionally, the Government has appointed a Working Group tasked with analyzing the impact of digital media on the operations of police agencies within the Federation of BiH, as well as developing recommendations to strengthen institutional capacities. The evolution of digital media and the rapid spread of information present new challenges for police work and communication with the public. A working group will analyze these impacts and propose concrete improvements tailored to the needs of police agencies, while respecting legal mandates and the rights of citizens.
In the realm of road safety, support was given to proposals regarding the nomination of a representative from the FBiH Government to the Council for Road Safety in BiH, as well as to activities by the Federal Police Administration concerning the enforcement of road safety regulations.
The significance of these measures lies in enhancing cooperation among competent institutions and coordinating efforts aimed at ensuring greater safety for all road users, within the scope of each institution’s legal authority.
Additionally, an amendment was adopted regarding the sale of motor vehicles belonging to the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs (FMUP) – specifically the Federal Police Administration – concerning the execution of the sales process and fleet management.
Through the efforts of Minister Isak and the professional work of FMUP staff, these matters were presented to the FBiH Government as part of broader initiatives to improve police operations and protect citizens.
Future efforts will focus on implementing the adopted acts and conclusions, as well as developing the planned solutions, to ensure that the supported proposals lead to tangible improvements in the operations of the relevant institutions, the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
