Israel is closing embassies around the world and calling on its citizens to be careful and not to display Israeli or Jewish symbols in public places, according to a statement published on the embassy’s official website.
The embassies announced after Israel’s attack on Iran that they would not provide consular services and urged citizens to cooperate with local security forces in the event of threats. It has not been revealed when their work will be interrupted, reports Reuters.
“In light of recent developments, Israeli missions around the world will be closed and consular services will not be provided,” said a statement posted on the websites of Israeli embassies in countries such as the US, France, Great Britain, Germany and Ukraine.
Israeli embassies abroad are inviting them to fill out a document about their location and current status, according to a post on the US embassy’s website.
There, they are urged to avoid displaying Jewish or Israeli symbols in public places and to refrain from posting identifiable location information or travel plans on social networks.
The embassies also warn Israelis to avoid large gatherings and events related to Israel or Jewish communities, and to generally be “especially cautious” in public places.
