The Israeli military is planning to call up 80,000 to 100,000 reservists for a possible occupation of Gaza City, local media reported.

Last week, Israel’s security cabinet approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to completely occupy Gaza City, sparking international outrage from governments and human rights groups.

The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the decision to issue thousands of call-up orders came after Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir approved the general outline of the plan to occupy Gaza City.

Further discussions are expected in the coming days on the details and timeline of the operation, which is expected to last until the end of 2026, according to the newspaper.
