The Israeli military said on Monday it had struck a “power plant” used by the Houthis in Sanaa, in the latest attack on Yemeni rebels who have previously launched multiple rocket attacks on Israel.

“The Israeli army carried out an attack some 2,000 kilometers from Israel, in central Yemen, targeting energy infrastructure used by the terrorist Houthi regime,” the military said in a statement.

It added that the strikes were “in response to attacks carried out by the Houthis against Israel and its citizens, including the launch of surface-to-surface missiles and drones.”

The Houthi-controlled Al-Masirah TV also reported the attack on the power plant in Sanaa.

The Iran-backed Houthis regularly launch rocket and drone attacks on Israel, claiming to be acting in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
