Israeli Minister After Meeting with Croatian FM: “Amendments to Bosnia’s Election Law Are Necessary”

Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar met in Brussels with the head of Croatian diplomacy, Gordan Grlic Radman, and among numerous topics, they also touched on Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

In a statement published on the social network X, the Israeli minister said that they met on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting between European Union (EU) member states and the so-called Southern Neighbourhood.

“We discussed regional issues in the Middle East and in Southeastern Europe. I thanked him for Croatia’s friendship and support. Israel firmly believes that the only sustainable path to a stable and prosperous future for BiH lies in full respect for the equality of its three constituent peoples. This must be accompanied by a strong commitment to the principles of power-sharing, both in the structure of governance and in the necessary reform of the country’s electoral legislation,” said Sa’ar.

Namely, Grlic Radman caused strong reactions after speaking at the recently held Dubrovnik Forum about the position of Croats in BiH and equality within the framework of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

“If Croats had known then that the principles of the Dayton Peace Agreement would not be applied in practice, they would never have signed that agreement because they are not equal now. Croats in BiH want to be equal with the other constituent peoples,” said Grlic Radman during the panel “The Western Balkans and the Euro-Atlantic Path: Trust, Transparency, Transformation.”
