It is Important for Croatia that BiH is Stable

leko (1)BiH has a special place for Croatia, and that it why it is important for the country to be stable, and for all people to have a right to equality, said the President of the Croatian Parliament Josip Leko in an address to the International Summit “Mir I Pomirenje-Korak Naprijed” (Peace and Reconciliatino-Step Forward) that is being held in Banja Luka.

He pointed out that special attention should be paid to the issue of refugee return to their pre-war homes, adding that “non-realization of conditions for the return means a continuation of war”.

“In the RS, only 10 percent of Croats have returned and this is disconcerting’’, warned the President of the Croatian Parliament.

He said that Croatia has a constitutional obligation to be concerned for Croats in BiH, and for this reason argued for a return to their homes, but in addition to provide the conditions for a dignified life.

“Return and reconciliation is minimum among the people. If we do not learn from the past, we do not have a right to hope for the future. This is a debt to the past and a pledge for our future’’, said Leko. “We did not come here to give advice, but to look for a solution together.

Reminding that Croatia will enter the EU in less than one month, Leko said that for this reason it is of big interest for the rest of the countries in the region to accelerate the path towards the EU and Euro Atlantic integration.
