Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) Presidency Member, Bakir Izetbegovic, yesterday hosted U.S. Ambassador, Maureen Cormack, with whom he exchanged views on the current political situation in BiH.

Izetbegovic and Cormack agree that it is necessary to find acceptable solutions for the Election Law Amendments as soon as possible.

Izetbegovic emphasized that the amendments in election legislation need to ensure the equality of all peoples, as well as all citizens in the entire territory of BiH, so that everyone can vote and be elected.

During the talk, the importance of the rule of law and the need for the judicial system in BiH to be functional, efficient and free from all political influences has been underlined, which should be one of the priorities in the future.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH, Khaldoun Sinno.
