The President of the Democratic Action Party (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović met today with the President of the European People’s Party (EPP) Manfred Weber, and the main topics of the meeting were the current political situation and the European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As announced, the focus of the meeting was on the European path of our country, the obligations that Bosnia and Herzegovina must fulfill in the process of EU integration, and the urgent need to speed up the reform process.

The role of the European People’s Party, as the strongest and most influential political group in the European Union, in providing support to Bosnia and Herzegovina was particularly emphasized.

During the conversation, it was pointed out that the membership of the SDA in the EPP family has a special significance for strengthening the political communication and influence of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Brussels. This especially applies to lobbying and decision-making, which are of crucial importance for the European future of our country.

An important part of the meeting was also devoted to the upcoming General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The interlocutors touched upon the great challenges and obligations that will be faced by the future government.

It was emphasized that the primary tasks will be to remove existing blockages, stop negative political and economic trends, and ensure the stability of state institutions so that BiH’s European path continues unhindered.

At the end of the meeting, Izetbegović and Weber underlined the importance of further coordination of activities within the European People’s Party family. The goal of this cooperation remains stronger support for BiH’s path towards full membership in the EU, strengthening political stability in the region and speeding up the necessary reforms.
