The Embassy of Japan in Bosnia and Herzegovina has announced that the Japanese Film Festival will be held in Mostar from 21 to 23 November 2025, in cooperation with the Japan Foundation and the Youth Cultural Center Abrašević. The event is part of the broader Japanese Film Festival 2025–2026, which will take place in five cities across BiH from November 2025 to February 2026.
Following Trebinje, Mostar will be the second host city of this year’s festival, which will later continue in Tuzla, Sarajevo and Banja Luka. The Embassy expressed its delight at returning the festival to Mostar, noting that the program continues to showcase the richness and diversity of Japanese cinema.
This year’s selection includes three films that explore different aspects of Japanese society, offering audiences a unique opportunity to gain deeper insights into the country from various cultural, social and emotional perspectives.
Japan and Bosnia and Herzegovina will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in February 2026, and the Embassy expressed hope that the festival will serve as a bridge of friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries.
