Joint Committee Meeting on Road Transport Greece-B&H

drumski saobracajIn accordance with the International Road Transport Agreement signed between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of the Hellenic Republic on 8 February 2005, the Joint Committee Meeting on Road Transport between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Greece was held on 18th and 19th September 2014 in Sarajevo.

The Greek Delegation was headed by Mr. Triantafyllos Papatriantafyllou, Director General for Freight Transport in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks, and the Delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina by Mr. Zoran Andrić, Assistant Minister in the Sector for Transport of the Ministry of Communications and Transport.

Issues of mutual interests have been discussed, such as goods and passenger transport and a Protocol for further cooperation has been signed on 19 September 2014.

In parallel, the Greek Delegation and the Embassy of Greece in Sarajevo participated in the The Fourth B&H Congress on Roads.

In this framework, Ambassador Karolos Gadis, in the aftermath of the recent Greek EU Presidency, has underscored the importance of the formation of the Adriatic-Ionian Macroregion  of special interest for both Greece and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the Interconnectivity sectors, energy and transports, where the recent EU – Western Balkan countries  Ministerial Conference in Thessaloniki, 08.05.2014, has focused.

Director General Papatriantafyllou has underlined the importance of TransAdriatic/Ionian-Adriatic Pipelines TAP/IAP in the energy sector, presented the achievements of the recent Greek EU Presidency in the Sector of Transports and put the emphasis to the transports as the key factor for enhanced cooperation of the whole Region.
