July A Record Month By Number Of Passengers At Sarajevo Airport

In the first seven months of 2025, Sarajevo International Airport recorded more than 1.2 million transported passengers, and the past month was a record in terms of the number of passengers.

In July 2025 alone, 292.574 passengers passed through Sarajevo Airport, 8.7% more than in July 2024. Such a strong surge once again confirms that Sarajevo is an unavoidable destination on the regional map, but also that more and more of our citizens are using the opportunities that exist today.

“I am truly happy that we can share such good news. This is not just statistics; behind these numbers are people, journeys, experiences, family gatherings, business opportunities, and long-planned vacations. This kind of result once again confirms the strategic orientation towards opening Sarajevo to the world, but also the world to Sarajevo,” said the Prime Minister of Canton Sarajevo (CS), Nihad Uk (Our Party).

What stands out in particular is the increase in the number of passengers on low-cost routes, which is the result of the strategic action of the CS Government and the subsidizing of new routes to European cities.

Just Ryanair alone, according to its own data, transported more than 300.000 passengers from Sarajevo in one year.

“The arrival of low-cost companies was crucial. The subsidies provided by the CS Government for opening new routes proved to be a complete success. On the one hand, that means better connectivity and growth in tourism, but what is especially important to me is that our citizens today have more opportunities to travel. Travel changes people, and I’m happy that as Prime Minister I can contribute to that,” says Uk.

Although expectations before the season were even higher, due to geopolitical processes, a certain number of Arab tourists decided not to travel. A growth trend is expected in the coming months as well, especially due to the increased interest in flights before and during the summer holidays.
