In 2022, the City of Sarajevo and Istanbul will mark 25 years of twinning relations. On that occasion, the Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem İmamoğlu, visited Sarajevo.

He was received in Sarajevo by a delegation from the City of Sarajevo.

“On this important anniversary, I was honored to host Ekrem İmamoğlu, the mayor of the Turkish metropolis,” wrote on social media the mayor of Sarajevo Benjamina Karic.

As she stated, the connections between these two cities are historical and unbreakable.

“We are the ones who need to nurture tradition and cooperate on concrete projects that will further strengthen these ties. We have a true friend and support in the mayor of Istanbul,” Karic added.
