During her stay in the United States (U.S.), the mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karic, held a series of meetings with numerous U.S. officials, including the mayor of Washington.

As Karic clarified after the meeting, relations between Sarajevo and Washington were officially established for the first time.

”To my great pleasure, I spoke with Mayor Muriel Bowser, the mayor of the capital of the most powerful political and economic country in the world. Our goal is to connect our cities, open numerous opportunities for cooperation in different areas, and exchange information and experiences in mutual interest,” Karic explained.

She also emphasized that this is a continuation of the improvement of cooperation between the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and a number of European and other cities.

“This is a continuation of the fruitful international cooperation of the City of Sarajevo and the strengthening of bilateral relations with the capitals of Europe and the world,” said Karic.
