North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said during his stay at the military university named after his father that due to the unstable geopolitical situation surrounding the country, it is time for it to be ready for war more than ever before, the state news agency KCNA reported on Thursday.
In the last few years, under Kim Jong-un, North Korea has raised the level of weapons and established close military and political ties with Russia. It allegedly helps the world’s largest country in the war against Ukraine, while in return it receives Russian help in strategic military projects.
“If the enemy decides to engage in a military conflict with North Korea, it will not hesitate to give it a death blow by all means,” KCNA quoted Kim Jong-un as saying in a conversation with students and professors at the “Kim Jong-il” Military University.
“Emphasizing the complex international situation, i.e. the uncertain and unstable military and political situation surrounding North Korea, Kim Jong-un said that now is the time for the country to be fully prepared for war, more than ever before,” reports the state agency.
Earlier this month, the North Korean leader oversaw a test launch of a new solid-fueled intermediate-range hypersonic ballistic missile.
North Korea has accused neighboring South Korea, as well as the United States, of provoking and raising military tensions, given that the two countries have conducted several high-intensity joint military exercises in recent months, Hina writes.
