While negotiations on changes to the election legislation are underway in the presence of international mediators, the Democratic Front has refused to be part of the process because their leader and chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zeljko Komsic, says he cannot take part.
“Besides, we think that it is not good to discuss key state issues in hotels and restaurants, instead of in state institutions. I warned earlier that Dodik can only be saved by shifting the focus of political discussion to changes to the BiH Election Law, which makes Dodik feel completely relaxed and continue his secessionist activities in peace, “he added.
He believes that this is happening now, and when he warned about it earlier, he heard, he says, remarks on his own account about collecting political points for expressing that position, but he says that time shows that he was right.
Speaking about the new, according to many, last, round of negotiations on changes to the BiH Election Law, Komsic says that it seems to him that everything is slowly turning into a farce, which is why he does not believe that this is the last round of negotiations.
“From the beginning, everything was wrong because the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights are ignored, as well as the voice of the public and the majority of citizens who are against further ethnic divisions, and the official positions of friendly countries are ignored, which lead to even greater ethnic divisions in the political system, “Komsic said.
He claims that, as he says, the dose of bias of international officials engaged in that issue in favor of HDZ is noticeable again, which is only confirmed by moving the talks outside the state institutions to Neum.
Komsic is of the opinion that now he is just listening to what the HDZ will say, which “seeks to deepen ethnic divisions and introduce apartheid into the political system of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a system that already functions on the principle of limited democracy.”
He reminds that the DF has repeatedly emphasized that talks can be held on the basis of the April package, which would reduce the powers of the houses of the people of the Federal and state parliaments to the mechanism of protection of vital interests, with a clearly formulated package of protection.
“This position is not new and we have been advocating it for years. The SDP BiH thinks similarly, and I see that SDA leader Bakir Izetbegovic is in a position of necessary reduction of the powers of the House of Peoples, and there is no reason not to stay in that position.”, says Komsic.
He believes that the fact that Covic says that there can be no talk of reducing the House of Peoples shows that he does not really want any kind of compromise, but “the capitulation of all pro-Bosnian and civic options before his demands.”
Therefore, he says that the red line for the Democratic Front is the complete reduction of the powers of the people’s homes and the implementation of all judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.
