The ceremony marking the Day of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on December 1, was held today at the “Rajlovac” barracks. During the ceremony, units and a tactical and technical assembly were lined up, high-ranking officials addressed the participants, and awards were presented to members of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić, emphasized in his speech that the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina are the best example of the possibility of successful reforms in our country.
Komšić emphasizes that the example of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina has proven that agreements can be reached in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that even then, many compromises had to be made and a lot of knowledge, will and determination had to be invested to do so.
“To be honest, this was done with great help from friends from the international community. Today, 20 years later, we can say that our Armed Forces represent a factor of stability in the entire country. During this year, as before, you have shown that you are always ready to help the citizens of our homeland, either individually or as part of a collective, or your formation units. In doing so, you prove that the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina are trained and ready to carry out one of the missions prescribed by the Law on the Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Komšić emphasized.
He noted that the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina have shown that they are ready to represent our country in international missions, and that they have repeatedly proven themselves as a reliable partner to the allies of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“You have carried out your tasks on other continents so far, primarily in Asia and Africa. Unfortunately, a bloody war is now being waged on our continent, in Europe. Once again, some countries, violating international law, are committing aggression against their neighbors. This tells us that in today’s prevailing world order, if what we are living in can even be called an order, we must be wise, taking into account above all our interests, and especially the peace and stability of BiH,” said Komšić.
BiH Defense Minister Zukan Helez said that the Armed Forces of BiH are the best integrated part of BiH society.
“I can proudly say that we have several declared units according to NATO standards. In addition to everyday tasks, our Armed Forces have had many complex exercises, which they carried out under the supervision of NATO forces. They have had numerous interventions and provided assistance to the civilian population during natural disasters, and they have participated in peacekeeping missions around the world,” said Helez.
He stressed that the Armed Forces of BiH will always be ready to defend the sovereignty, territorial integrity, constitutionality and borders of BiH.
Deputy Minister of Defense of BiH Aleksandar Goganović said that the position of BiH’s allies is that the reform of the Armed Forces is one of the best-done reforms in post-Dayton BiH, BHRT writes.
