On Wednesday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Elmedin Konakovic, met with the Special Representative of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany for the Countries of the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin.

Minister Konakovic thanked the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany for its strong support in the European Council in adopting the Decision to open negotiations with BiH in the process of accession to the European Union (EU). He noted that exceptional efforts have been made in BiH in communication, negotiation, and striving to progress on the path towards the EU, that the result is visible, and the path ahead for politicians and BiH is challenging but without alternative.

The interlocutors discussed the importance of the Berlin Process, which has had a positive impact on the region, leading to stronger social, economic, and political ties.

They emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and maintaining good neighborly relations as a necessary tool for the development of the Western Balkans, leading to EU accession.

The interlocutors concluded that the speed of reforms and their implementation determine the pace of BiH’s accession process to the EU family.
