Konakovic-Sturtewagen: Belgium’s Support for BiH’s Transition Path

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Elmedin Konakovic, spoke in Sarajevo with the Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in BiH, Benjamin Sturtewagen, and on that occasion warmly welcomed the decision of the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium to reopen the embassy, the highest level diplomatic representation of the Kingdom of Belgium in BiH.

Konakovic wished the Kingdom of Belgium a successful presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) and thanked for the support that the country provides to BiH in the process of joining the EU.

He expressed the hope that in March 2024, during the Belgian presidency, BiH will receive a positive opinion from the European Commission and a positive decision on the opening of accession negotiations.

Benjamin Sturtewagen emphasized that Belgium, as a multicultural community based on tolerance, understands the specifics of BiH and that it will continue to support the transition path of BiH with cooperation and assistance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH announced.
