The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Staša Košarac, stated that the construction of an airport in Trebinje would provide significant support to tourism development in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska, expressing hope that the project will continue despite challenges at the level of theFederation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Unfortunately, certain political structures in the Federation, driven by retrograde views, fail to understand what this project would mean for everyone,” Košarac said in Belgrade, where he attended the opening of a tourism fair.
He noted that Republika Srpska is often slowed down at the state level when it comes to development-oriented decisions, citing the Trebinje airport project as an example. The airport is a joint investment of Serbia and Republika Srpska.
Košarac also emphasized the importance of improving road connections toward Herzegovina, as well as the tourism potential of Sutjeska National Park and rafting on the Tara River and Drina River.
“That is why the road toward Montenegro is being constructed. Milorad Dodik, together with the Government of Republika Srpska, is making serious efforts to improve road connectivity between Republika Srpska and the Herzegovina region, including the route via Rudo,” Košarac added.
He said this reflects the vision of the political leadership of Republika Srpska, stressing the importance of infrastructure development.
