The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kosovo announced that two border crossings with Serbia were closed, one in Brnjak and the other in Merdar. In the meantime, traffic is currently allowed at the border crossing Jarinja.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Xhelal Svecla, said that masked extremists within the territory of Serbia use a selective and fascist approach to stop citizens who want to pass through Serbia, and all this in front of the Serbian authorities.
He said that “in defense of the lives and safety of all citizens, this point, like the one in Brnjak, will be closed until such selective and fascist actions are stopped and the situation is completely normalized”.
Svecla said earlier that the crossings were closed to traffic because “masked” persons were “stopping cars and validating passengers” on the Serbian side of the border.
Foreign Affairs Minister Donika Gërvalla also reacted to the situation.
In her address at Platform X, she called on the European Union and the United States of America to react in order to stop Vučić’s dangerous escalation.
At the border crossing between Kosovo and Serbia in Brnjak, groups of masked Serbs stop cars with German plates and do not allow Albanians to pass.
“Vučić’s police support this racist escalation, they watch and do not act. Vučić continues to betray Germany and the European Union, talking about European integration and making the situation worse. We hope that Germany will ask for free passage, regardless of the issue of lithium,” wrote the head of Kosovo’s diplomacy.
He says Kosovo will keep this border point closed until free movement is ensured and Albanians are protected from serious scenes of masked Serbian criminals stalking and threatening.
“We call on the European Union and the USA to act decisively in order to stop Vučić’s dangerous escalation, before it causes a war,” concludes Gërvalla in his reaction, Klix.ba writes.
