kratkofil festivalThe EU Special Representative in BiH will support the International Film Festival Kratkofil Plus for the second consecutive year, which will take place 22-24 July on the Kastel Fortress in Banja Luka.

The competition part of the eighth Kratkofil Plus will focus on the short film form, while the off-competition programme will see the screenings of socially-engaged documentaries and feature films.

This year’s Festival will kick-off by short films made under the project Kratkofil Junior, which has expended and included a larger number of participants as well as children with special needs as part of the campaign ‘Let’s Talk About Opportunities’. The campaign – which aims to raise awareness about the rights and opportunities of children with special needs – is being implemented by the UNICEF and local partners from 2013 with the support of the USAID and the EU Delegation to BiH.

Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative, Ambassador Peter Sorensen, said:

“Kratkofil is developing a strong profile, projecting a positive message from Banja Luka and Bosnia and Herzegovina to Europe and beyond. By nurturing the short film art form and promoting talent, Kratkofil contributes significantly to placing the country and the region on the diverse cultural map of Europe. This is why we are happy to support and to be a part of this Festival once again.”

The Director of the International Film festival Kratkofil Plus, Darija Buzakovic, said:

“The films screened on the Festival will furthermore expand the boundaries of artistic expression but also explore the themes that are the core mission of the Festival – scrutinizing reality and creating better society and surrounding for all of us. EUSR is supporting the Festival for the second time and I want to emphasize that this support yields multiple significance for the Festival”.

Kratkofil PLUS 2014 will be opened on 22 July at 21.00 h on the main stage of the Kastel Fortress.
