The international film festival “Kratkofil Plus” will be held from 24-28 July in Banja Luka with daily screenings in the Youth Center and an evening in the fortress “Kastel”.
In the competition program, there will be 44 films shown from all parts of the world, and the public will get a chance to watch excellent films in the review program of the festival, said the organizers.
The festival will be opened with the film “Harry Dean Stenton: Partly Fiction” that will be shown after the first block of the competitive program on “Kastel”.
In the “open air’ part on ‘Kastel’, the documentary film ‘Pussy Riot-A Punk Prayer’, ‘The Act of Killing’, and ‘Hives’, a peculiar omnibus that will close the festival.
There will also be several short films shown at the festival.
Just like last year, the “Grand Prix” award will be handed out for best film of the festival, as well as awards for the best experimental, animation, documentary and regional film, as well as special jury recognitions, and this year the audience award will be given out.
A member of the jury is Božo Trkulja, director, animator, musicians, writer and film critic from Zagreb who won the award at last year’s festival for best regional film “Story from the Beginning of Time”.
Another member of the jury is Corina Schwingruber Ilić, a Swiss visual artist and director, and her last film, “Tone of Passion” won the award for the best documentary at last year’s festival, and jury member Daniel Ebner is the director and selector of the partner festival of ‘Kratkofil’ Vienna Independent Shorts from Vienna.
“This year’s budget is much less than ever and due to this, the organization of the festival was more difficult’’, said the organizers, who added that this is a crucial year where they will see if they could continue the festival. Thus, we have decided to introduce a symbolic charge for 1 KM for movies from 18:00 in the Youth Center and 21:00 in castle “Kastel”.
They thanked the support of the RS government, city of Banja Luka and the US Embassy to BIH.
