Kremlin Does Not Expect Final Document After Putin–Trump Meeting

A final document following the upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska on Friday is not expected, the Kremlin said on Thursday.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, according to Russian state news agency TASS and other media outlets, told reporters that such a document was “not expected” after the talks and that nothing had been prepared.

“And it is unlikely that there will be any document,” he added.

Peskov, however, said that a joint press conference would be held after the summit, and that the Russian president would outline “the range of agreements and understandings that he will reach.”

He stressed that preparations for the summit had been made within a limited timeframe, adding that current discussions on the war in Ukraine were being conducted bilaterally, and that Kiev’s position would be considered at a later stage.

Peskov said Putin’s earlier meeting with Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, in Moscow had been productive and had paved the way for the summit.

The spokesman warned that it would be a “big mistake” to rush and predict the outcome of the talks, and called for “wait and see how the conversation goes.”

In a separate comment to Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin, shared on Telegram, Peskov said Putin would visit one of Russia’s regions before traveling to Alaska.

The one-on-one meeting between Putin and Trump will take place at the Elmendorf-Richardson Joint Base in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city.
