[wzslider autoplay=”true”]Municipality of Kresevo is located in the central part of B&H at the altitude of 640 meters above sea level, and it is surrounded by mountains and hills. When you first arrive to this town you might think that you’ve come to a place from a fairy tale: narrow streets, traditional houses, very little traffic and friendly people who will greet you on the street regardless of whether they know you or not.

The pure mountain air, rich culture, tradition and history gathered in this small town, which can be proud of the natural beauty and wonderful people who are living here for centuries in harmony and friendship, helping each other regardless of the name, nationality or religion.

“This is a small town and we all know each other. Relationships are intertwined and it worked very well in the past as well as now. We were affected by the war, but return was organized here first and there was no problems, except maybe for some individual cases. The percentage has not change and Croats are still making the majority of the population, while there are also Bosniaks in somewhat smaller percentage. We are all living together, celebrating the holidays… They were helping each other for years, they were building together houses, churches, mosques, etc.” said the Mayor of Kresevo, Radoje Vidovic.

Even though this is a small municipality, it has the lowest unemployment rate within the Central Bosnia Canton.

Large part of Kresevo is protected as a national monument because of the traditional houses that were built using a specific technique and most of them have no foundation. Therefore, the town center is almost unpopulated and the citizens are migrating to other parts.

“We recognized tourism as a possible potential. We have a total of eight national monuments and we are bigger municipality by surface – 149 km2 and we are bordering with Kiseljak, Fojnica, Konjic and Hadzici. We have beautiful mountains. We opened a tourist office and hired one person and we created travel guide. Franciscan monastery is building a museum so it will be another attraction for tourists. We are expecting success, especially after the construction of the road,” emphasized Vidovic.

Kresevo is today beautifully arrange and clean town, whose residents, same like centuries ago, are competing in showing great hospitality to the visitors. Old Bosnian architecture found its place among modern construction buildings, and flowers in front of the residential buildings and private houses, as well as on public areas, says a lot about the spirit of the people who live here. Urban mentality of Kresevo residents still lives in the shades of everyday life and every arrival and stay in Kresevo can be considered as well spent time, according to locals.
