The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, met today in London with Lord Stuart Peach, the special envoy of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom for the Western Balkans.

Kristo expressed satisfaction with the reunion, after Lord Peach made his first visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina in December 2021, when he also met with members of the Collegium of both houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose member at the time was chairperson Kristo.

She thanked Peach for the immense support and assistance that Great Britain, as a friendly country, has been providing to BiH for years, and expressed her belief that this kind of support will continue in the future.

The Chairperson pointed out that it was a pleasure and an honor to attend the coronation of the British King Charles III and his wife Camilla in London’s Westminster Abbey on behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the meeting, it was said that the relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Kingdom are extremely good and friendly. The continuous and intensive political dialogue and substantial cooperation in numerous areas was particularly highlighted.

Chairperson Kristo welcomed the strong political, economic and security support of the United Kingdom to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The intention of the UK to increase investments in the infrastructure of the Western Balkans through British investment partnerships is significant. In the long term, the development of relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the UK lies in the strengthening of economic cooperation, primarily through attracting investment from the UK as well as through the transfer of knowledge and technology.

Lord Stuart Peach emphasized that Great Britain is deeply committed to European security. He added that the importance of peace and stability both in BiH and in the region is everyone’s priority.

Chairperson Kristo pointed out that significant steps have been taken in the first 100 days of the Council of Ministers’ work, and that the Council of Ministers’ commitment to European integration processes is unquestionable. Through continuous and intensive dialogue, internal political conditions in BiH were partially stabilized, which enabled the record-breaking establishment of government at the state level, and a few days ago at the level of the Federation of BiH.

She also said that it is a priority, within the next six months at the latest, to make limited changes to the Constitution of BiH and the overall amendment of the electoral legislation in such a way as to ensure the real constitutional equality of all three constituent peoples. She added that for this reason it is necessary to implement the judgment of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina on legitimate representation at all administrative and political levels, as well as the implementation of all judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
