The Director of the Border Police (BP) of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Mirko Kupresakovic, received a visit from the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to BiH, Age Sandal Moller, and his associates, whom he acquainted with the work, functioning, and competencies of this police agency.
On this occasion, Kupresakovic informed Ambassador Moller about the current activities in the fight against terrorism and the suppression of all forms of cross-border crime, such as migrant smuggling, human trafficking, smuggling of narcotic drugs, trade in weapons and explosives, and similar, as well as about the state of illegal migration, which in recent years represents one of the greatest challenges in the work of the Border Police of BiH.
He added that the Border Police of BiH appreciates every form of support and that this agency is a reliable partner in preserving the security of citizens and strengthening joint European security.
Engagement of Frontex and the development of cooperation
One of the topics of the meeting was also the engagement of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) in BiH, which is a positive step forward that will significantly strengthen the capacities of the BP of BiH in state border surveillance and in performing border control duties, and contribute to overall security in the region.
In that sense, Kupresakovic said that a number of preparatory activities are being carried out with the aim of strengthening the capacities of the BP of BiH for participation in joint operational activities, training of police officers, and other activities to be ready to respond to new challenges.
On this occasion, Ambassador Moller expressed his commitment to the development of cooperation between the BP of BiH and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in BiH, and Kupresakovic also expressed openness for continuing to strengthen mutual cooperation between the mentioned institutions, the BP of BiH stated.
