The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov and the President of the All-Russian Political Party “United Russia,” Dmitry Medvedev, wrote to the President of the Bosnian and Herzegovinian (BiH) entity Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, regarding the “dismantling of the Dayton principles of internal structure in BiH”.
In his letter to Dodik, Lavrov emphasized that the Russian Federation, as one of the guarantor states of the General Framework Agreement for Peace (Dayton Peace Agreement) in BiH from 1995, pays priority attention to the consistent implementation of this international legal document, which plays a key role in maintaining stability and security in BiH and the Balkans as a whole.
“We are following with concern how Western actors are persistently dismantling the Dayton principles of BiH’s internal structure, and we are witnessing active attempts to reduce the inalienable constitutional rights of the constituent peoples. It is evident that RS, you personally, and your associates are primarily under attack because you are defending the lawful and internationally recognized interests of the Serbian people and resisting the West’s neocolonial policies,” Lavrov stated.
In his letter to Dodik, Lavrov stressed that “Russia is determined to continue pursuing a principled and responsible policy to defend Dayton, strengthen peace in the Balkans, and develop equal and mutually beneficial cooperation with RS.”
Lavrov wished Dodik resilience, courage, and success in his patriotic endeavors, and wished “the brotherly Serbian people happiness and prosperity.”
The President of the All-Russian Political Party “United Russia,” Dmitry Medvedev, in his letter to the President of RS, Milorad Dodik, stated that Russia is following the situation in the Balkans, and in BiH, with deep concern.
“With regret, we note the revival of former colonial practices by the West, which is trying to establish total control over the peoples of the region and turn them into submissive and disenfranchised satellites that unquestioningly follow commands from abroad,” he stated, according to N1.
Medvedev added that “the steadfastness with which the Serbian people are resisting the aggressive Western policy, defending their national interests, commands great respect.”
“Indeed, you personally are on the front line of a new stage of the national liberation struggle and are bravely resisting external pressures, which often exceed all imaginable moral-ethical and legal boundaries,” Medvedev added.
He expressed confidence that “through joint efforts, the Russian and Serbian peoples will ensure the triumph of traditional values, equality of rights, and creative cooperation.”
“I wish you and your associates endurance and new successes, and the people of RS peace, stability, and prosperity,” Medvedev concluded in his letter to Milorad Dodik.
