Lejla Zalihic from Butorovic Polje near Konjic saved her daughter’s life in a way that only the bravest, certainly mothers, can.
According to witnesses from Konjic, Lejla swam three kilometers during the catastrophic floods that hit parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) three days ago, causing enormous damage and taking at least 16 lives.
Her 13-year-old daughter fell into the floodwaters during the chaos and was swept nearly three kilometers away by the current.
But Lejla immediately jumped into action, literally – she leaped from the third floor of her house into the water and swam, managing to save her daughter from the flood. Truly, a heroic woman.
Moreover, the mother has been hospitalized, and her daughter is safe.
