Long-time Campaigner for Human Rights Srađan Dizdarević passed away

12714023_1107418982642390_1219197908_nA long-time campaigner for human rights and the former president of the Helsinki Committee for BiH Srđan DIzdarević passed away in Sarajevo yesterday, after a serious disease.

Dizdarević was born in Sarajevo in 1952. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo. Dizdarević also studied political sciences in Paris, and he is also known for being the first secretary of the embassy of Yugoslavia in Paris.

He has been serving as the president of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in BiH for nine years, until he resigned in 2014.

During his career, he has been working as the editor-in-chief of the Children’s Youth Press, assistant to the editor-in-chief of Oslobođenje magazine, and on several other functions.
