Magazinović at PACE: Impunity for War Crimes in BiH Encourages Crimes in Ukraine and Palestine
At the plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) held in Strasbourg, Saša Magazinović, Chairman of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH), drew a parallel between the unpunished war crimes committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina and those currently taking place in Ukraine and Palestine.
Speaking at the request of the Tuzla City Council and referring to the 1995 massacre in Tuzla, where 71 civilians—mostly young people—were killed by a shell fired by the Army of Republika Srpska, Magazinović highlighted the case of General Novak Đukić, convicted of the crime but currently evading justice in Serbia.
“Đukić is a symbol of impunity. He is not the only one—Serbia continues to harbor convicted and accused war criminals,” Magazinović warned, calling on the Council of Europe to condemn this practice and insist on justice for all war crimes, past and present.
He stressed that truth and justice are essential foundations for lasting peace, whether in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Palestine, or elsewhere.
The address follows the Tuzla City Council’s recent adoption of a Declaration urging institutional action to enforce the verdict against Đukić and to uphold the rights of the victims of the Kapija massacre, a topic Magazinović brought to the European forum.
