Hungarian opposition leader Peter Magyar has declared victory for his Tisza party in the Hungarian parliamentary elections.

Addressing supporters gathered on the banks of the Danube, he announced that Tisza would have a two-thirds majority in parliament.

Commenting on the record turnout in the elections, Magyar stressed that never in the history of democratic Hungary have so many people voted in an election, and that no party has ever received such a strong mandate as Tisza did today.

Magyar stressed that Hungary will be a strong ally of the EU and NATO, and that he will represent all Hungarians, both at home and abroad.

According to the latest results of the parliamentary elections, the opposition Tisza party will win 137 of the 199 seats in the Hungarian Parliament after 81.49 percent of the votes counted.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban congratulated Magyar and Tisza on their victory.

The Hungarian will most likely be elected prime minister in the parliament at the beginning of May.
