Mario Kordic is the New Mayor of Mostar

Mario Kordic, the HDZ BiH candidate, is the new mayor of Mostar. He received the support of 17 of the 35 city councilors in the third round of voting.

Zlatko Guzin, the candidate of the “Coalition for Mostar”, received 16 votes.

Two were invalid votes. In the first two rounds, neither of these two candidates had the required two-thirds majority.

To recall, among the candidates for mayor was Irma Baralija, who had five votes in the first part of the constituent session of the City Council.

That vote was annulled, practically, when the High Representative in BiH, Valentin Inzko, got involved in the story because the councilors had adopted a conclusion on public instead of secret ballot.
