European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said in Brussels today that the political stalemate in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) continues to slow down the country’s progress towards the European Union (EU) and that the secessionist policies of Republika Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik are dragging the country back.

“Milorad Dodik’s secessionist policies are dragging the country back, not forward, and it is time for those who believe in the country’s future in the EU to join forces and implement reforms,” Kos said at a meeting with MEPs in the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee today.

She stressed her support for all parties and actors committed to the EU path and called on the country to take the necessary steps towards a negotiating framework, stating that “the EU door remains wide open, but BiH must now fulfil its remaining obligations.”
