The Mayor of Sarajevo, Samir Avdić, said at the press conference on the occasion of the Public Welcome of the New Year 2026 that it will be a spectacle that Sarajevo will surely remember.

“It is my pleasure to be able to officially confirm that the City of Sarajevo, in accordance with the announced expectations, will provide the citizens of our city as well as the visitors of the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on December 31 with a superb public welcome of the New Year. I sincerely hope that we will justify the epithet of one of the most desirable regional and European New Year’s destinations,” said the mayor of Sarajevo.

He pointed out that the city administration never gave up on organizing a public New Year’s celebration and “our intention to organize a public New Year’s celebration for the City of Sarajevo was of particular importance”.

“However, the condition of our actions so far was consistent compliance with legal regulations, and in accordance with that, the procedure was completed to the satisfaction of all of us. It is known that the City of Sarajevo has always carried the epithet of a good host. Precisely for this reason, I ask all our fellow citizens to welcome the New Year 2026 this time, first of all as good hosts, which we are, as is typical of us, and to welcome all guests who visit our city in the way we know best,” said Avdić.

He emphasized that Sarajevo is a city of meetings, good company and great entertainment.

“See you on the stage of Sarajevo City Center on December 31 with our Jelena Rozga, Dženan Lončarević, Divanhana and the New Year’s concert of the Sarajevo Philharmonic,” Avdić said.

The people of Sarajevo and the guests of the city will welcome the new year 2026 with one of the most famous regional singers, Jelena Rozga, who said today that she is honored and very happy that she will usher the people of Sarajevo and all the guests of Sarajevo into a better year 2026.

“I am very excited, considering that in previous years the big, biggest stars of the region sang in Sarajevo, so this year should be justified. As always, I will do my best to make it a concert you will remember and thank you once again for choosing me to be the lucky one. Thank you all very much,” said Rozga.

The Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra will also contribute to the New Year’s atmosphere in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina with its traditional New Year’s concert.

The director of the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, Vedran Tuce, said that Sarajevo has been a regional hit destination for New Year’s Eve for many years.

“The New Year’s concert has a long tradition of 32 years, and in the last few years, the decision was to use it as a formal start to the New Year’s celebration, because we are unique in that. While Jelena is singing and warming up, the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra will hold its traditional concert, which will start at 7:30 p.m. at the National Theater, and will be ‘streamed’ to Susan Sontag Square in front of the Theater and to the Square next to the SCC, where the central reception is,” said Tuce.

He added that the past years have shown that they also have their audience, citizens and tourists of this city.

The executive producer of this year’s Public New Year’s Eve, on behalf of the company Prorent, Nedim Srnja, said that many years ago he organized the first New Year’s Eve in front of the Eternal Flame.

“This year I had the honor of organizing the first New Year’s Eve on the plateau behind the SCC,” said Srnja, adding that it is a very good space that has proven to be adequate during the Sarajevo Film Festival.

“I think that this space is ideal, in terms of safety and traffic and traffic flow in the city. We have designed this year’s program well. I think everyone will be satisfied with this year’s selection of Jelena Rozga, Dženan Lončarević and our group Divanhana. As for the technique and equipment, we are bringing to Sarajevo something that is the best and most expensive in the world at the moment, so I believe that everyone will be satisfied,” said Srnja, Fena writes.
